Lid of a wooden pot (ornamental)

- Who repaired it?
I did
- How long did the repair take?
2 Hour
- How much did it cost?
NA
- How was the object repaired?
The round lid holder was chewed by our dog. We cut it back with a knife, filed it and sanded it and painted it black.
- Why did you repair the object?
It’s a beautiful item gifted to us from a close relative. It still looks good, although now different to its original form.
- Why do you think it is important to repair things?
A lot of creative energy (that went into making this pot in the first instance) would have been wasted if we had thrown it out.
- What would be important to you to be included in a Repair Declaration for Ireland?
Make visible the shops and stores that sell tools that you can use to repair items.
- What actions do you think could help Westmeath achieve a vibrant repair culture?
Create stickers that can be displayed in shop windows so as people can identify what places support repair and repair activities. Repair workshops can be held in village and town centres – like the repair cafes.
Create a repair kit for people with young dogs (I’m serious) – this could include sandpaper, file, knife, glue, gaffer tape, needle and strong thread.
