- Who repaired it?
i_did
- How long did the repair take?
About 15 minutes
- How much did it cost?
Zero (but I already had the screwdrivers and wires)
- How was the object repaired?
The tape would not feed through. I found a blog online where another repair enthusiast had identified the problem – a mechanism in the motor gets stuck sometimes. Most people throw the device out because it’s cheap to replace. But the repair is simple – open up the device by removing all the screws on the back, find where the power connections to the motor are, wire two AA batteries in sequence to the motor. It turns a little and loosens the mechanism. Works perfectly after that.
- Why did you repair the object?
It's for a friend. I do a lot of small electronics repairs for friends and convince them to repair rather than throw things out. I often show them how to do a repair in future.
- What would be important to you to be included in a Repair Declaration for Ireland?
Everything can be repaired or turned into something else. We are all compost.
