Learn how to transform a drab piece of furniture into a fabulous new piece using chalk paint. This workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to build their confidence and wet their toes but do not know how to approach a furniture repair or mend.
Taking place in the surroundings of the old café on the ground floor of Kilbeggan’s Whiskey Distillery, join Claire Delabre, designer, upholster and owner of Handmade Design Studio for this entry level, hands on workshop.
Chalk-paint is a decorative paint known for its matte, chalky appearance. A popular choice for giving furniture and home decor a rustic, vintage, or shabby-chic style, it was initially created by the paint brand Annie Sloan. “Chalk Paint” is now technically a registered trademark of this company but lots of other versions of it exist.
The key benefit of its use is that it does not require any prep work and it can paint right over most clean, dry surfaces (aside from metal or shiny laminate). Once chalk paint is dried, waxes and finishes can be added to the surface to seal it, create a patina. You can also customise pieces with stencils or gilding.
All materials provided with plenty of colours to choose from. All you have to do is bring a small item of furniture with you and start painting!
Free to attend. Limited to 8 persons and registration required via Eventbrite.
